HARE'S CAUGHT COLD

After their fine midweek away win the Hare's had a rude awakening in this match as they were 2 down in opening 9 minutes when the visitors scored in the 3rd minute from a corner when their Jordon Watson headed home. The Hare's responded to this goal and went on the attack themselves but the move broke down in the Hertford penalty area and they quickly counter attacked and with the Hare's players out of position their Leigh Rose hammered the ball home before the Reds defence could recover.
United took a long time to get over the poor start but they gradually got a foothold in the match and midway through the half they had a series of attacks with the best of these ending with a shot from KYLE MATTHEWS which the visitors goalkeeper tipped over the bar.
The Hare's continued to press forward in an attempt to reduce the deficit and in the 37th minute from a good flowing move they were rewarded when HARRY NEWMAN slide the ball into net. Neither team created any further clear-cut chances and there was no further score before half time.
After the break play was fairly even and although the Hare's created a couple of chances inside Town's penalty area their strikers failed to convert these and in the 71st minute it was the visitors who scored again when a fierce shot was saved by MATT ELSTON-BULL but he was unable to push the ball away and it dropped virtually on the goal-line and before any of the defence recovered the Hertford striker Tom Wade to ran in and prodded the ball into the net.
United tried to fight back and despite creating several chances towards the end of the game they could find the net from good opportunities from goal mouth skirmishes, nor from shots from outside the box as these either went wide or they hit the woodwork. The visitors were worthy winners of the match as they survived the Hare's attacks and also had further chances without success to increase their score.

Team: Elston-Bull, Kinnane, Millar (Trenholme 55), Egan, Bennell, Grant (Gradwell 65)
Gill, Porter (Ferguson 75), Smith, Newman.
Subs. Not used: Barton.
