The Hares started the match on the attack and they had the better possession and created numerous chances before they eventually scored in the 18th minute when the Reds were awarded a free kick and PAOLO CICERO curled a shot out of the reach of the Jets goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net. United continued to dominate the play and it was not until midway through the half that the visitors created a chance in the Hares penalty area but the shot went harmlessly past the post.
The Reds doubled their lead in the in the 26th minute when PAOLO CICERO cross/shot from wide on the left found the net after all the Oxhey players failed to clear the ball.
United were well in control of the match at this stage and had several more chances to increase their lead but their shots were either just off target, saved by the goalkeeper or defenders and the teams went into the break without any further score.
The visitors came out for the 2nd half in a more determined mood and they pushed forward in an attempt to reduce the score and although they got into better goalscoring positions they were generally deigned good shooting chances by good blocks from a well organised Hares defence.
In the 65 minute one of the Jets players was sent off for a 2nd yellow card and this set back seemed to spur their team on as they chased and fought for every ball after this and their spirit was only broken in the 85th minute when THOMAS HOWE received the ball outside the box and he drove into the penalty area until he reached the by line and he then clipped the ball into the 6 yard area for GARY JAMES nod the ball home.
