The Hare’s started the match slowly and the visitors had the better of the initial possession, although it was the Red’s who created the best scoring chance when they went close in 13th minute with a shot from close range that just missed the target. This was then followed by a shot from Daniel Fleming in the 17th minute when he struck the ball from outside of the penalty area and found the corner of the net to open the scoring. The Red’s gradually took control of the half and Gary James increased the lead in the 33rd minute when he received the ball inside the penalty area and beat the goalkeeper with a well-placed shot. United remained on top for the rest of the half but they failed to find the net again and the teams went into the break with Hare’s leading 2-0.
The Hare’s started the 2nd half on the attack and their forwards were to quick for the Tiger’s defence and this allowed Gary James score again 2 minutes after the kick off. The visitors hardly had time to recover when United scored another goal in the 50th minute when debutant Jake Rosier picked the ball up in midfield and drove forward into the box and calmly placed the ball beyond the Tigers goalkeeper.
The Hare’s had a comfortable lead with these goals and it was not long before Gary James completes his hat trick in 64th minute when latched onto a lose ball and scored from the edge of the penalty area. Tiger’s Terence Cariba scored a consolation goal for visitors in the 75th minute, but this was not the end of the scoring as with minutes to go United’s Gary James had a good run into the penalty area but he was stopped by the Tiger’s defence and the ball ran loss to Martyn Fletcher who completed the scoring from close range to seal a well deserved win.
