Former Youth player progresses to Pro club.

As a club we look to progress our youth team players to reach as far as they can with us or within the game. In the last decade or so we have produced players such as Matt Lench who has played in Step 1 and Step 2 of non league football. The list of players to emerge from our youth system also includes Charlie Goode currently at Brentford and Blaize Riley Snow playing at Raith Rovers. They also include plenty of our unbeaten team in 2019 emerged from our youth team such as Harry McCorkell ,Sam Shaw, Lenny Farrell and others.

In the summer one of our youth players, Justin Obikwu trialed and was signed by Coventry City currently playing in the The Championship, the 2nd division of English football. This not only shows the great work that Justin has done to earn this move, but also the hard work undertaken by our U18 and reserve managers/coaches Derek,Angus Tony among others.

While Justin has now left us for Coventry he sent us this message below

“The coaches at the club really helped me progress with my development and without the experience I got from Harefield United 18s and reserves this would not have happened .This really helped me progress so I would like to thank Derek, Angus, Tony and the other coaches who helped me at the club”. With them I managed to gain recognition and saw clubs were interested in me , this then helped for Coventry City to provide me a trial which went really well and then Coventry offered me a two year Scholarship with an opportunity of a pro contract if I do well”.
