First Team Coach Michael Molokwu's post-match thoughts on Wembley game

First team coach Michael Molokwu has spoken of the positives he has had to take from Saturday afternoon’s draw against Wembley.

The Hares were unlucky to not come away with three points for their efforts at Preston Park, conceding a late equaliser that would have seen them move up to seventh in the Premier Division.

Molokwu's side came out for the second fourty five rejuvinated and came back from one nil down to 2-1, only for Wembley forward Femi Ogunsola to level with little time remaining.

‘In the second half, we definitely deserved more, should have scored more goals, and then you’ve got an unfortunate mistake at the end.’ commented Molokwu.

Ogunsola’s chance came after a botched clearance from ‘keeper Reece Mallett, with the hapless error coming after Mallett kept the Hares in the game with an earlier acrobatic save.

‘The young goalkeeper who we have put in has been great for us whenever he’s played, in our first team or the reserves.

‘He made a mistake, and sometimes that can come with youth, a bit of inexperience but he’ll learn, grow and develop.’ said Molokwu.

Despite chances coming the way of both sides, Harefield looked the much better of the two after the break and made it count with two strikes from Lenny Farhall and Richard Pacquette respectively.

‘All in all, I’ve got to take the positives I can- and I look at the second half and I thought we were a lot better than them and we should have scored a lot more goals.’

On the spirited second half, Molokwu and manager Jason Shaw encouraged the team to play into their assets, namely the front four of Pacquette, Farhall, Sam Shaw and Tash Jordan.

‘We’ve always said that one of our strengths is to play the ball into our 10, Sam Shaw, and our 7 Tashan Jordan and Richard Pacquette up front, if we can give them the ball and get Lenny (Farhall) moving around them, I think we always look a threat.

‘We just encouraged them to be a bit more confident, get the ball down and try and use it. Once we do that, I think we tend to go on and dominate games.’

Farhall was a notable mention, notching a goal and assist and was praised highly by his coach as a ‘true number 9’.

‘What I loved in the last couple of games, he’s put in more of a shift and we’ve seen at bit more of a maturation about him.

‘I think before that, he’d shown that he can just score goals, now he’s shown that he can score goals, and assist a bit more, he can work when we don’t have the ball- he’s coming into his element a bit more.’

The striker’s goal was his thirteenth of the campaign, hot on the heels of his partner Pacquette who has 14, whose deadly combination was even more prevalent when the turned provider for each other’s strikes on Saturday.

‘The team improved, and he improved specifically into the second half as well.’ commented Molokwu.

Looking ahead and approaching the season’s halfway point, the first team coach has urged the team to ‘keep the same belief’ as that of last season, which saw the Hares promoted to the Premier Division as an unbeaten team.

‘I think we’ve got to have a bit more confidence in front of goal, I think that’s important and I think the other end about keeping clean sheets, I think we did better last season with keeping the ball out of the net.

‘I think its making sure that as this half of the year winds down, we kick on again in January.’

The Hares will enjoy a two week rest after a congested November, returning to face Aylesbury Vale Dynamos on the 14 December away from home.

Molokwu and Shaw will then welcome league high flyers Biggleswade United and Colney Heath, before the derby against Broadfields United in a fiery festive fixture list.
